Children's campaign "Sport for life"

Over 5,000 children played sports with Gabriela Szabo and the biggest champions of Romania in the social campaign "Sport for Life"
The social campaign "Sport for Life", initiated by champion Gabriela Szabo, has reached the end of the first stage. In less than a month, the champion, helped by the biggest Romanian athletes, managed to mobilize more than 5,000 children in sports activities.
The campaign included:

  • School Promotion Tour: 5 schools from Bucharest (12, 45, 162, 171, 177) were visited, totaling 1,200 children.
They learned the basics of sports, such as heating, hydration, stick and dribbling rules. Their teachers were great champions, such as Andreea Raducan, Elisabeta Lipa, Diana Oprea, Monica Iagar, Laura Badea, Oana Pantelimon, Claudia Isaila, Otilia Badescu as well as the dynamovists Florin Matache, Nicolae Musat, Marius Alexe, Eugen Craciun and Mihai Turcan.
  • Mega-sporting event for children "Playgrounds".
For 2 days, in Herastrau, 4,000 children participated in the games and competitions organized for them, in 10 sports perimeters and received all prizes and diplomas.
Moreover, this event also represented a way of selecting talented children for sports - great sportsmen, such as Monica Iagar, Andreea Raducan and Claudia Isaila, noticed children they had already started training or guided to the clubs. Specialized.
  • A series of 4 sporting events in the placement centers - Pinochio, St. Mary, St. Peter and Paul, St. Joseph. As in the School Promotion Tour, the children played sports and received prizes and gifts, greatly enjoying the attention offered by the "Sport for Life" team.
Also, a preliminary research was carried out, the objective of which was to establish the level of sport practice among children in the primary cycle and their parents.
Thus, approximately 50% of the parents of children in grades 1-4 (age sample: 25-45 years) play sports once a month or less, and 9% of the respondents never do physical exercise. The adults surveyed play sports at home or in the park / forest / on the green grass and only 10% go to a specialized club (fitness, aerobics) and 3% to a sports club.
The parents' habit, of invoking the lack of time and of not doing organized sports, is transmitted to the children. Based on the parents' statements, a child spends most of his time one day doing his homework (19%), watching TV (16%), playing inside the house (14%) or on the computer (12% ).
The main reasons why parents do not send their children to play sports is the lack of time of the parent (39% of the respondents) and the lack of adequate spaces for this activity near the house (21%).
"Sport is really a problem of the young generation. It is not given importance, but children feel the need to move," said champion Gabriela Szabo. "During the campaign, we had over 5000 children who got involved in sports activities.
Only at the Southern Cross District, within the Playgrounds, 200 children participated. This shows me that our initiative is necessary and I wish to reach the national level as well. I believe that Sport for Life can become the most important gender initiative in Romania. ", The campaign initiator concluded.
