A woman from Siberia who gave birth to her 12th child - contributing more than she should to Russia's growing population - was quite shocked when she learned that little Nadia weighed in at birth 7, 75 kg, Reuters Health reports.
Nadia was born through Caesarean section at the local maternity ward in the Altoi region, joining the 8 sisters and 3 brothers. Nadia's mother, 43-year-old Tatyana Barabanova said that the whole family was shocked by the weight of the baby. And her father could do nothing but look at her and blink.
The Book of Records list includes the name of a boy born in Italy in 1955 weighing 10.2 kg and the name of another boy born in the United States in 1879 weighing 10.8 kg who died 11 hours after birth.
The normal weight of a healthy newborn is about 3.2 kg, according to the World Health Organization.
